The ancient Hebrews, for instance, engaged in polygamy — according to the Bible, King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines — and men have taken multiple wives in cultures throughout the world, including China, Africa, and among American Mormons in the 19th century. Polygamy is still common across much of the Muslim world.
The idea of marriage as a sexually exclusive, romantic union between one man and one woman is a relatively recent development. Until two centuries ago, said Harvard historian Nancy Cott, “monogamous households were a tiny, tiny portion” of the world population, found in “just Western Europe and little settlements in North America.”
Also, in regards to my health…
my surgery has put me on a low-fat diet and has really made me take a hard look at my health habits. I figure that if I up my exercise (after I’ve recovered quite a bit more) and keep up a more healthy diet I could easily lose weight. And after mathing it out if I were to simply try for 4 pounds a month I’d lose over 20 by the end of December, which would bring me to the weight I was when I started dating my bf 2 years ago. This is my goal. It’s in writing = it’s for real.
Rudy Eugene, 31, the naked man also known as The Miami Zombie who viciously attacked a 65 year old homeless man on the MacArthur causeway in Miami Saturday. He was caught trying to eat off the other man’s face, police fired one shot into the man after ordering the Rudy to stop. Rudy only gave grunts and growls back. It took 11 more shots to kill Rudy. The victim, whose identity has not been released, is still listed in critical condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital, the Miami Herald reports. The shocking incident occurred near the off-ramp to Biscayne Boulevard on the causeway. Police believe LSD is behind this act of cannibalism.
